KEYSER OFFICE – ADOPTION PROGRAM
Burlington United Methodist Family Services’ Adoption Program in Keyser serves families residing in the eastern panhandle area of the state. Home study and post-placement services are provided for families interested in adopting a child, whether internationally or domestically. Children in need of homes range in age from newborns to teens. Popular countries for international adoption are currently China, Russia, Korea, and Guatemala. Children in US foster care are also in need of homes and the agency works cooperatively with the WV Department of Human Services to facilitate placements.
Information packets that include costs and eligibility requirements can be obtained by contacting the office at the address, telephone or email listed below. When contact is by e-mail, please provide full names, address, and telephone number.
The program provides support before, during, and after the adoption has been completed. Training and educational opportunities are provided on many issues related to adoption such as adjustments, attachment, medical and developmental issues, trans-racial/cultural adoption, talking to your child about his/her adoption story and birthparents, and instilling pride in his/her culture and heritage.
