Burlington United Methodist Family Services’ Adoption Program in Key ser serves families residing in the eastern panhandle area of West Virginia.  Home study and post-placement services are provided for families and individuals whether they are adopting internationally or domestically.  Children in need of homes range in age from newborns to teens.  Popular countries for international adoption are currently China, Russia, and Ethiopia but many other countries are open to adoptive families as well .  Children in US foster care are also in need of homes and the agency works cooperatively with the WV Department of Health and Human Resources to provide home study services and facilitate placements. 

Birth Parent Counseling Services are available to those facing an unplanned pregnancy, facing parenting difficulties, and for parents of someone facing an unplanned pregnancy. Burlington UMFS provides these services to all persons requesting them, regardless of race or religion.

Training and educational opportunities are provided on many issues related to adoption such as adjustments, attachment, medical and developmental issues, trans-racial/cultural adoption, talking to your child about his/her adoption story and birth parents, and instilling pride in his/her culture and heritage.  As an agency affiliated by faith and common heritage with the West Virginia Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church, the program seeks to  provide a Christian ministry to its clients.
