Perhaps the simplest form of planned giving, the bequest is a provision in the Last Will and Testament that provides for a distribution from the estate of some property, to an individual or organization. A bequest can also be included in a codicil to a Will that has already been executed. Bequests to a qualified charity such as Burlington United Methodist Family Services are deductible for estate tax purposes, against the total value of the estate of the decedent. You can name BUMFS in your will and/or trust for a specific amount or a percent share of your estate. Burlington can also be a residual (remainder) beneficiary of a will and/or trust after payments to the other beneficiaries.
Your generous commitment will provide the necessary resources to allow BUMFS to continue its mission of providing a ministry to prevent harm and provide hope to every hurting child and family throughout West Virginia and Western Maryland.
Listed below is sample wording that may be helpful to you or your attorney:
By including Burlington United Methodist Family Services in your estate planning and notifying our Development Office, you will be inducted as a member of The Star of Hope Legacy Society which honors and recognizes those friends and supporters who have made a future gift commitment through their will, estate plan, or other beneficiary arrangements.
Thank You! If you have any questions regarding The Star of Hope Legacy Society, other gift opportunities, or about Burlington's Endowment Fund, contact Jim Chaney at (800) 969-0079. |
